Scheduled For: Monday @ 1:00 PM in Water Oaks II
Session Type: Session - Presentation (includes keynote & business mtg)
Target Audience: IT leaders and technicians responsible for preparation or support of technology disaster recovery plans.

Abstract:

Berea College IS&S published our first formal IT disaster recovery planning document three years ago, and we have gone through two iterations of audit, review and revision. We will present an overview of backup, disaster recovery and business continuation terms and issues and discuss our current approaches and philosophy. Emphasis will be placed on evaluation of business continuity requirements, completeness of backup resources, and the value of planning ahead. Time will be allowed for questions and for attendees to share ideas and experiences. Attendees will take away a planning template document, a basic understanding of issues and an awareness of resources to use when developing their own formal recovery plan.

Bill Ramsay has served in various IT leadership capacities at Berea College for the past 10 years. Prior to becoming involved in higher education, he spent 18 years as a programmer and IT manager for a manufacturing company.
