Abstract:

The traditional one-semester undergraduate microcomputer applications course for teaching candidates at the University of Indianapolis was modified through the years to include elements of multimedia design, cooperative learning, project-based learning assignments, and Web 2.0 sites. Recent scholarship in the field has identified Technological, Pedagogical, Content Knowledge (TPCK) for each content discipline as a unique and important field of inquiry. As a result the department of teacher education has undertaken a curriculum revision process leading to integration of technology concepts into other methods classes. The session will focus on the revision process, the nature of TPCK, Web resources that have been identified, and the resulting integration of technology concepts throughout the teacher education curriculum. Participants may be able to avoid some of the pitfalls encountered in this process.
