Abstract:

How can technology be integrated into the existing curriculum for pre-service teachers, so they see the real benefits of using technology to enhance and extend the everyday task of designing lessons and teaching students? Technology has not only become such an integral part of our daily lives, but elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide are integrating technology into the classrooms and schools at a record pace. Pre-service teachers need to be prepared to teach students using the most up-to-date software, hardware, and have a familiarity pertaining to a variety of tools available to promote learning in the classroom to prepare students for the future. We have designed a technology plan to address these issues, so our pre-service teachers are prepared for their field experiences and teaching upon graduation. The purpose, various aspects/components, and pros and cons associated with the technology plan will be the focus of the presentation.
