Abstract:
Information security continues to rise in importance at all levels and across all domains. Our educational computing environments are uniquely and ideally positioned to significantly contribute to the best preparation of future information workers and leaders through the advancement of safe and sensible educational computing practices. Presentation participants will better understand: • the importance of information security to the future of our nation and schools, • the tremendous impact of common good/bad information security practices, • a simple process for discerning sensible information security practices, and • the roles they and their educational community can play to contribute to improved information security for all. Participants will also be provided a collection of the some of the most useful examples and tools for advancement of information security efforts at their educational community.
Ray has over 21 years of traditional, interactive television, and web-based university teaching experience. He has served as Software Quality Engineer for NASA. His most recently earned post-graduate certification is in Information Security from the Purdue University Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS). Ray has designed and implemented commercial online faculty/course evaluation systems and has developed educational game software that served K-12 audiences for over 15 years.
